Yes, yes and yes! It’s one of the most important things you can do. Your letters provide hope and encouragement for your child to do well in school and work to break the cycle of poverty.
If your child can’t read English, a field staff member will translate your letter and give the original and translated versions to your sponsored child.
To write your child online, log in to your account and click “Write My Children.”
You can mail letters in care of: Children International, PO Box 219055, Kansas City, MO 64121. Please include your full name and your child’s name and ID number (located on his/her family record).
You can also include select items in your letter, including postcards, stickers, lightweight coloring books, calendars or other paper items. (This ensures a smoother trip through customs.) Letters are sent to our agencies each week on Thursdays via an overseas carrier.
There is one unfortunate exception: If you sponsor a child in Ecuador, we can’t accept packages sent to our offices there. Ecuador’s customs process and fees have changed, making package retrieval not only more complex, but more expensive. Fees change regularly, and the process often requires multiple steps and resources that our staff members cannot fulfill. We hope you’ll consider sending an Extra Gift instead!
Note: For the sake of privacy, please do not include your personal information, such as address, email address, phone number and any information related to your social media profiles (i.e., Twitter handle, Facebook ID, etc.).
