This typhoon has killed at least 200 people in the Philippines. Does CI have more information on its impact on sponsored families and CI operations?

I've just heard about it too, very sad news :( it's the hardest one this year...
I'm worried about my girl Joan who lives in Bicol. Let's see if CI staff have more information about it! Thank you for opening this topic!

While we are all hearbroken to hear about the devastation caused by the typhoon, we are grateful to report that the hurricane did not travel through our areas of operation. The typhoon evacuations were in the areas of Visayas, Mindanao and parts of Southern Luzon. We do not have sponsorship operations in any of those areas.

Yes I heard about it too. I am sad and heartbroken to hear that there has been a high death toll and I'm sure that it is going to continue to climb up. I hope Matt is okay too, especially since his house is not well made. I will keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers. Happy Holidays!

In the USA this typhoon was mostly overshadowed by the devastating tornadoes in Kentucky and bordering states. Even with insurance and being in an affluent nation where many can donate to those left homeless natural disasters are terrible. When it happens somewhere with less resources plus in the middle of COVID lockdowns it's that much worse. Being a Kentucky native (though my family wasn't affected, closest tornado was 30 miles away) it really makes the severity of natural disasters hit home.

So thankful your family in Kentucky was not affected and are safe.
