New photos?

About how often do we get new photos of our sponsored children?  I am just curious because I have read many posts where a sponsor selected a child for sponsorship, and very shortly afterwards, saw a new photo online of the child.  Is it more than once a year?

Good question! It is once per year. The staff updates the photos every 365 days, so it would be possible to begin the sponsorship of a child and soon after the child's picture is updated by the field staff.

Do they take a new photo for the listings after a child loses a sponsor? When I started sponsoring Axel, he had a photo taken about a month before I saw him listed, yet he had his previous photo taken only about 8 months before.

 

Another surprise was Dylan's latest photo taken in May of this year. His first photo was taken in January of this year. Although I'm his first sponsor, so I'm not sure why they re-took his photo so soon. (Not that I'm complaining!)

I think sometimes if our children are at the center for something else (doctor appointment, writing a letter, etc) and the photographer happens to be there at the same time, they may go ahead and take a new photo? I've had some "surprise" ones show up a couple months early, too.
