Question about sponsorship Cancel Title is required

What happens when you terminate your sponsorship of a child? Does the child lose his or her benefits? If yes, how long before that happens?

I ask this question because Cindy, my sponsor child, actually had a sponsor before me. Her sponsor had to terminate the relationship for whatever reason. I discovered this yesterday while speaking on the telephone with a CI staff member. The staff member told me Cindy still had her benefits despite not having a sponsor anymore. Did Cindy get to keep her benefits because her sponsorship had only just recently been terminated? I really like the idea of the children keeping their benefits even after losing their sponsor.

Anyway, some clarification on this would be nice. Thank you.   

Once the children begin receiving benefits they never stop receiving benefits until the child leaves our program. Benefits never have to be given back - even if there is a change in sponsors.
