I’m 15 and enjoy farming and light house work in exchange of payment to sponsor a child in Zambia. I would like to raise funds to get necessary items during the holidays, to let him know someone out there still cares. https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-charles-birthday-fund?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

I think it's wonderful you are doing this. Is your mom ok with you sponsoring a child? Also does the home have room for beds? Why a solar oven? I think it's great that you want to help Charles and his family. Some things to think about, alot of these homes are very small and they sleep on cots. So that they can roll up the cots when not being used. I'm guessing the family uses coal or wood to cook? Why not do a 2 or 4 burner stove that would be cheaper.

You are making a big change in his life, and perhaps your own as well. I would suggest that after your raise money, contact CI to determine what the family prioritizes for their needs, or just send an EG (extra $ gift) in the amount of your funds, and let the family decide how to spend it. There may not be room in the home for bunk beds. Mats that can be rolled up might be more useful.

I like the solar oven idea. It can reduce the fuel needs of the family and perhaps multiple families if shared. I made my donation by paying a month of sponsorship for you. It can take a few days to show up under your account and will be under payments by others. You can record this as a off-line donation on your fundraiser if you want. If you want more details about how this works I have provided those under a different post 'A bed for Idah.' Best of luck on your fundraiser. I think what you are doing is great!
