Sending letters!

Hello all, I am new to this and have a question about sending letters with my child I sponsored a few days ago. Since the child I sponsored is in Colombia and their language is Spanish, may I type my letters in Spanish or should I only do it in english and it will be translated? I know Spanish myself and that is why I am asking this question because I thought maybe doing it in Spanish is easier on both ends.
Also I’ve realized that the last photo update was a few years ago and if I’m not mistaken the children take photos every year and it is posted. Can anyone tell me what’s the deal on that?
If anyone has any advice too please share! Thank you.

Hi RitaASi! Welcome to the Sponsorship family! You can write to your child in Spanish, it will save our staff translation time! Thank you.  Photos are updated annually, but many of the youth were not able to have their photos updated in 2020 because of the pandemic and government restrictions in their countries. While many community centers are still closed to in-person activities, our staff is hoping to collect updated photos in 2021 by asking families to take a photo and text it to the staff, if they are not able gather take it in person!  We appreciate your understanding.
