Avg Monthly Family Income Cancel Se requiere un título

I have only just noticed on Family Records (FR) the term – Avg Monthly Family Income. I think previously it was simply called "Family Income". Has there been a change to how this figure is calculated now?

When updating FR (and taking photos) at annual review, in general Family Income is the total earning expressed by the family for the previous month. But if CI is re-defining income as "Avg Monthly Family Income", which seems to suggest that the total amount of income earned by the household in the previous month is divided by the total number of people living under that roof.

One of my FR updated on July 25 showed Family Income of $460. Less than 2 months later, Avg Monthly Family Income of the same family has changed to $225. This could happen if the calculation has changed to the total income figure divided by family members, whether they are related or not who are working or over a certain age.

If this is true, what kind of work the children do independently to support their families? If so, do they usually work part-time without affecting their studies?

I understand the confusion, but no, there has not been a change in the way a family's income is reported. Our printed Family Records still say "Approximate monthly income for the family (in U.S. Dollars)" and Progress Reports say "usually averages" x amount a month. 

I'm not sure why the website child info was changed, but please know we meant no confusion or concern. The income is reported by the child's guardian and is always an approximate monthly income for the entire household.  There is no complicated equation involved, just simply whatever the guardian reports.  Hope this information helps!

Since my story "She's still smiling.." (July 31, 2023), the approximate monthly income for the family has gone down from $460 to $225 in the last few weeks, which does not sound right if mom is the only one earning below the minimum wage for a maid job in Mexico.

I understand the print format may take time to update, but it'd be good to know how/why this new terminology is coined by CI.

Family earnings can fluctuate daily/monthly depending how the family gets their income. For many families in our program it's never the same amount each month. The guardian reports the income and it is generally an average or approximate for the month.  Changing from Family Income to Average Income is the most accurate way to describe each family's earnings.  There are no calculations involved, the income is entered exactly how the family reports it. 

Without knowing the exact income for the recent months, I'm still puzzled by the term "Average monthly family income" used for a given family rather than generalising among families. It makes sense when CI say.. "The average monthly income of a family in our program is around K1500 or 89 US dollars." [www.children.org/see-the-impact/where-we-work/africa]

For our information, I believe the FR supposed to reflect the financial situation within a particular family like how this is used to describe as "Family Income" [www.children.org/learn-more/contact-us/faq/about-child-details/my-family-income]

It's simply a way to describe each family's self reported average income each month.

Thanks, I see what you mean.. the word "average" used in this context is to mean usually, generally, broadly, typically, commonly, largely, mostly, or normally. To avoid confusion, I think "Typical Monthly Family Income" would be a better term to use in FR.
