Online Order for Ecuador Cancel Se requiere un título

I saw this question at the end of one of the discussion threads on the South America page but couldn't find an answer......

For those who have sponsored child/children from Ecuador, do they have online stores in which you can purchase grocery items, school supplies and other gift items? I would want to send or give something to my child? Is sending a DP to Ecuador advisable? Thank you very much...

Elemay brings up a crucial issue -- the reliability and efficiency of the world's post offices.  The top post offices in the world for reliability and efficiency are, predictably, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, Finland, Australia, Canada (The United States routinely ranks thirteenth in some research) Which countries are at the bottom of the list or very far down?  Sadly, Children International countries.  In fact, Zambia is near the bottom of the list, a country where CI helps over seventeen thousand children and youths.  If you go through old posts on the Sponsor forum, you will read too many tales of disappointment: loving packages that never arrived.  I play it safe, I use EG's (Extra monetary Gifts), but you will read that some sponsors have success with particular online stores.  Among my fifteen sponsorships, one is Derlis in Ecuador.  I go the safe, reliable, efficient route, I periodically send Derlis a $125.00 EG.

I have sent books through Amazon. Though unless you pay $$$ Amazon does not guarantee delivery due to the postal policies. I very clearly had Amazon mark the package as "Donation" and only sent two children's books. You have to mark the package "donation" to avoid the high import taxes. (though there is no guarantees) and only some items are able to be shipped.  The current cost of the shipping is $29.99 and could take up to 30 days. Also beware that the package could be confiscated. There are grocery stores in Ecuador that take online orders and deliver , but I have had yet to try them.

Does Elemay found a way to help and send something? I live in Brazil.. almost close to Ecuador. 
Is it hard mail to get there? I don't know how it works.

You may send cards, letters, and photos to your child by sending it to our office - PO Box 219055, Kansas City, MO 64131, United States. This post is referring to not being able to send a package of items to a sponsored child.

Any clue when we will be able to send packages to Ecuador?  It is a customs issue? 

Ecuador’s customs process and fees ​make package retrieval not only complex, but very expensive. Fees change regularly, and the process often requires multiple steps and resources that our staff members cannot fulfill. This isn’t an issue in every country where we work; Ecuador is just an unfortunate exception. It has been this way for at least the past 5 years, so it's not likely to change anytime soon.
