And why do you send them in that frequency?

I ask this question because I don't know how often I should send SNGs to my sponsor child (besides sending them on birthdays, Christmas, etc)......should I call CI and ask what her current situation is like? :/

I made a new year resolution this year to send each of my six girls a $100 SNG every other month. The reason is I just want to, and after all every kid in the program is at some stage of poverty. This past month I sent one girl and her siblings an SNG to be used as they want because I want to see a smile on all their faces, not just her. Also I'm paying for wells and pumps for various communities in Legazpi and Tobaco, Philippines. Each time one is completed they pick another community that needs one. I've repaired homes, built toilets, had water supplies connected, rented a home for one girl and gave a boat and motor to her father gave gas stoves to all six girls, because I requested inquires for their needs. Look at your childs family report and there might be obvious things you can see that needs attention. I'm retired and have no outstanding expenses so I'm very fortunate that I can assist my girls this way. I am a semi-shut in, so I am very fortunate I found C.I. My girls have lifted me frombeginning stages of depression. I have some little ones to spend time helping.

nickyste, I admire all that you are doing for your girls!  I too am retired and all extra income goes for my four Delhi girls. I love the thinking through and follow through on projects for the improvement of their lives. They give more back to me than I could ever give to them. Keep up the wonderful work!

That's incredible, nickyste. Keep up the amazing work. I'll take your advice and see if I find anything that "sticks out" in my kid's report. Any other advice is greatly appreciated. (From anyone.)

I wish we could send more SNG's but our economy and very boring and annoying financial advisor in the bank won't allow it, so until we win the lottery or get answers from some of the countless mails that have promised us 7.898.679.995 billion dollars - if we just send our PIN-codes :-P  we try to send an annual birthday SNG and an extra gift for Easter, Special Hug etc, if and when we can afford it.

Yeah, I know what you mean, frumor. I'm a student, so I am pretty much broke all the time too. :P Nothing we can do but continue to help out in whatever way we can. Frumor...what is "Special Hug"?

nickyst, I understand completely about these children lifting us out of depression. I too suffer from Anxiety and Depression. Taking care of these kids, writing to them, buying little things for them, is just one way that has helped me. The blessings that I receive from them by far are like adrenaline in my system. It makes me happy knowing that what I can do for them makes their life easier in some way.
I think it is awesome what you are doing for these kids. I have limited funds as I am on a fixed income. But I honestly would send every penny I have if I could. I have had a Latrine built for one of my girls. The other 5 already have them. I have inquired for two of my kids to have gas stoves, but they both declined saying the gas was not affordable to their meager incomes. We have done roof repair also. Thank you for detailing what you have done. It has given me some more ideas on ways to help. Two of my kids have fisherman Fathers. I never thought of funding a boat for them. It makes me wonder too if fishing nets are needed. I will inquire with CI tomorrow after the holiday.
Have a great week!

haseo268, Special Hug day happens every Sept 5th. The Mothers in the neighborhoods that CI helps get together and decide what would be a good gift for the families. They get bedding, towels, dishes, cookware, etc. Whatever they feel is more needed at the time. There is a link on here for what the children will receive in each area for their Birthdays, Christmas, Easter and Special Hug day. Let me go get it.....
It is under the 'FAQS' tab at the top right, then click on the 'About Sponsorship' tab, then click on 'What gifts will be given to my child for Birthday? Christmas? Easter? Special Hug?' tab. From there you can click on your childs country and the information will come up.
I hope that made sense.

I admit that I have no consistent pattern because if I ever couldn't do a birthday or Christmas, I would feel bad.  My only "pattern" is that I tend to ask about my kids several months before the start of a school year (usually end of the last) about educational needs to make sure they fund in time.  For my first graduate, I asked about post-graduate options to help him transition to college/the workforce successfully.

The rest of the time, it is to meet a specific need usually.  I'll save up for house repairs, to pave floors or send $100 here and there if I notice a child looks particularly thin or I hear a father has left or a parent lost a job.  Admittedly, I've started consolidating the number of families I sponsor (more siblings) to make it easier to fund house projects for ALL my kids because two or more benefit from one project that way.
