How often should I write?

My question is because I am new to this and I don't know what the proper balance is.  On one hand, I would assume that the child would want to receive more letters than not as it shows active caring.  On the other hand, letters take time and resources from CI in the way of translation and (I assume) supplies such as paper, postage, etc.  Plus, would another sponsored child be aware that their sponsor doesn't send as many letters as another child?  I assume that these children may meet/know each other?

I guess I don't know a lot about the process, but my thought is to send one letter a week or so.  Is that too much?

C.I. wants us to keep it down to one letter a month, but as debbies says, we sponsors are rebels. I am not a prolific writer, but I answer any letter that I get as I use their letter to as a template. I am sending SNGs every other month to six girls plus mending certain issues with their homes as I recieve replys to my inquires. This brings loads of thank you letters along with the child particiption letters. This keeps me busy with letters. Be prepared to wait on letters as it is painfully slow. We sponsors are known as mail man stalkers. Once you recieve your first letter you'll know why as you begin your journey into sponsorhood. Congrates and welcome to the club.
