I just made my first sponsorship payment. I was wondering, should I wait for my child to write me first, or can I write her first? Total newbie here. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm a newbie here also, but I just sent a quick letter first.  I think he/she will appreciate it.  Just keep it simple.  Hopefully I did it right too!

When I sponsor a new child, I send a letter before I get their welcome letter. I usually tell them a little about myself and a general idea of where I live. Then, after I receive their letter, I will send a follow-up letter to their welcome letter. After seeing Debbie S's post about the children being able to write as often as they would like, I will put that information in my next letter to them so that they know they can write whenever they want. I guess what I am trying to say is do what ever you think works best for you. I feel that you can never send too many cards or letters, especially since the majority of the process is electronic now.

Same here, I send as soon as I sponsor.  Usually just an introductory letter, letting them know who I am, a little about myself and the area I live in.
