Differences in Sponsoring US children

So far this is what I have gleaned from sponsorship of a 'US' child versus 'another country' child;

You will only receive the child's first name for their privacy and protection.

They receive benefits a little differently as there is no Field Office in Little Rock. They instead are given benefits, gifts, letters,
etc through UALR (University of Arkansas at Little Rock).

The above items are given to the child at the end of each month so as to not interrupt their daily school time. (Keep this in mind if sending
an item that needs to be there earlier)

Dental Care is given at the University in their school based Dental Clinic by University students.

They offer after school programs to provide a safe haven while family members work.

They get to go on Field Trips. (I am assuming cost free)

Your sponsored child will send the first letter to you shortly after you start sponsoring them and then one letter every six months
thereafter.

Each US child has up to 4 sponsors.

Just to clarify a few things, there are differences in the benefits provided by each program. In our Little Rock program the families are notified when a package/letter arrives. They can come to the office and pick them up. If they are unable to, then the items are held until the end of the month when someone can deliver them to the schools. Because the US Program is school based, children are only asked to write once a year. The letters and are due in our Kansas City office by May each year. There are no “Community Centers” however there is a central office where staff works as well as space for youth council meetings, after school tutoring in a computer center, and space for writing letters to sponsors. Sponsored children have access to the Future Smiles Clinic, a school-based dental program that helps improve their oral health and overall well-being.

If you are interested in learning more about our program in Little Rock, call or e-mail us and ask for a U.S. Sponsorship Guidebook.

Would you still receive a letter and photo for any DP or SNG sent to a child in the United States?

Yes, all follow up reports for DP's, SNG's, and CP's are treated the same at every agency.

I am just curious, are the sponsors names kept private as well? So the parents of the children do not attempt to contact the US sponsors?

The child and parents will know you're first and last name. Unless you have us change the salutation on your account to simply Friend/Sponsor. Contact the Care Team if you prefer a generic salutation. Also, our families are aware that direct contact is not allowed due to privacy.
