A couple years back, I learned young children in Quito, Ecuador, could enroll in a new program, My First Program.  With my sponsorship of 6-year-old Vanessa, I asked about the availability of this program for Zambia children.  The rep was not familiar with it.  Is this program still being offered in any of CI’s agencies? Which ones? Was it successful?  Will it be extended throughout CI’s countries?  Any more info available?

“My First Program” is based on caring for children in well-being spaces, following an active learning path in the Children International Guayaquil programs. The purpose is for children to achieve a significant change in their lives from the moment they begin their sponsorship stage.
We provide support and stimulation to children through games and activities related to early education and therefore appropriate to the age, development and learning of the participants, and address issues of emotional well-being with aspects such as optimism, hope, self-care, resilience and emotional expressiveness."

This is an early education program for the young before they enter CI more established programs. I too have 3 little ones, so good to know if this is available to them in Mexico and Colombia. Thank you.

Based on the way the article talks about this program, it seems to me that it's only available in Guayaquil.

@lizaxoxo That's a great question! I'm pleased to inform you that the majority of our agencies will be implementing the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) program in 2025. Here are some additional details about the program: Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) focuses on the holistic development of children under six, including their physical, socio-emotional, language, and cognitive growth. UNICEF's framework highlights that millions of children lack essential nutrition and healthcare, facing violence, pollution, and stress. Their caregivers often struggle to provide nurturing care due to limited resources.
In 2022, CI piloted a two-year learning agenda for ECCD. By 2024, agencies implemented ECCD programs for children under six. Key activities include integrated health, nutrition, and preschool services; engaging caregivers and local partners to leverage resources; and training staff and volunteers to enhance their ECCD skills.
