I was going to update my list but it's rather pointless to do today as I have seven more kids with birthdays this month (I already had b-days on the 2nd and one today!) July is my crazy month when it comes to sponsor kids' birthdays! By the end of the month, my CI kids will all be ages 4 - 13 (every age is accounted for) and Saheba is 18.

I definitely have higher numbers of kids of certain ages... ten 7-year olds (I love this age because usually they are just beginning to write for themselves), six 10-year olds and seven 11-year olds. I seem to love adding 9 year olds, I think they're just old enough to start really figuring things out and really understanding the sponsorship program, but most of my 9 year olds have turned 10 or now 11, hence the higher numbers there! LOL!

Mine are:

14 - Yorleny (Honduras)

12 - Joseline (Guatemala)

9 - Abish (Honduras), Gretel (Nicaragua) and Wendy (Guatemala; she'll be 10 at the end of the month)

8 - Damaris (Guatemala)

7 - Damarys (Guatemala)

5 - Anyi (Honduras)

4 - Sury and Linda (Guatemala)

I have a clump of 9-year-olds even though I was trying to space everyone out. I guess I didn't notice since Abish just had her birthday, and Wendy's is right around the corner.

Nayelis is 8 (she will be 9 on 9/23) and Wynderly is 7. And I am looking to possibly sponsor a younger (3 or 4) child so I can see that child grow up from the start of life almost.

Rose-Ann - 18 - Legaspi
Garlhen - 17 - Quezon City
Jillian Mae - 8 - Tabaco
Jillian Bonita - 7 - Tabaco (I am her first and only sponsor. I have had her since she was 3)

Duvanis - 2 - Cartegena (I am her first and only sponsor also)

Thanks for posting this again.  Current update:

Me:

Eyra (Guatemala), age 16

Julieth (Colombia), age 15-->16

My mom:

Angy (Colombia), age 16-->17

Neha (India), age 14

Mirna (Guatemala--Mayan), age 12

We are also both in groups for Paul and Mirriam, two 14-year-old Zambian kids

We also sponsor a Kenyan girl age 15 or 16 through a different organization.

Question: for those of you who have multiple kids--especially if a half-dozen or more, do you have any suggestions for how to keep better ORGANIZED prompts/record-keeping on when school fees are due, asking for Education Reports, keeping track of when letters have been sent/received and who should be written next, occasional inquiries about the general well-being of the child or family, etc?

I know how to do these things, and have been doing them successfully for my kids, but if I am ever in a position to afford more kids, I would need to upgrade my organization skills.

Brightspot I keep a binder and with the clear holders for each child.  i have a piece of paper on the front of each page that has the childs birthday and any sng or inquiries i am waiting for or wanting to send.  I also keep a notebook I wright down the date each month I send my monthly sponsorship.  I guess somepeople can send it all at once but I have a very limited budget (I have 3 young kids myself) and i have to space my sponsorship out through a few weeks.  I have though that maybe it would have been better for me to have just sponsored 3 or 4 kids and provided more for them but then I remind myself that at least I write to them and I do/will send them SNG at some point even it is once a year...a lot of kids dont even get that. :)

Hi Brightspot!

I have 16 that I sponsor directly and a total of 30+ that I provide some form of assistance to although I am not their sponsor. The way I keep things organized on Birthdays, SNG's school, etc is to use an Excel spreadsheet.... it is the only way I can do it. Hope that helps.

I have a different colored folder for each of my 6 sponsored children. I have those clear document sheets that I put each yearly update, photos and a copy of letters I send and letters I reicieve in. I have the childs information on the outside of each folder such as their name, id number and bday.

I put each updated family record in the front pocket of the folder so their info is close at hand. I have also copied and taped a clothing size chart for that child inside the folder so that I can see in a snap what size they wear according to their height and weight.

When I get something in the mail, I date stamp it and file it in their folder. I take a colored ink pen like purple or red and underline any thing the child writes in their letter that I need to ask CI about or reference in the letter I write back to the child. That way everything is organized and handy. I write in my purse calendar their bdays , when to ask for education reports and when school fees need to be sent. I write each of my kids every month on the 5th using CI's online stationary. I also enclose a short little note with any DPs I send.

I hope this gives you some ideas. Enjoy your kiddos.

I only have three kids to keep track of, but I put all their birthdays on my Outlook calendar with a reminder set for I believe 2 months before the birthday so I remember to include a happy birthday message in my letter to them closest to their birthday. I also have some SNG reminders in Outlook.

If you use some sort of calendar program already, I recommend adding events to the calendar with reminders set X weeks ahead of time so you remember what's coming up.

I have 8 kids in the Philippines, and each has a color-coded 3-ring binder.  All correspondence (CI's, child's and a copy of mine) go in that folder.  The first page lists when SNG's or DP's were done, and include notes about any conversations with CI.   Post-its might be useful for your kitchen calendar to remind you about education fees, etc.    It's hard to juggle everything!   I've woken up at night wondering if I remembered a child's birthday.

This is an interesting thread but also a little sad. If you look, many of those who replied sponsored several children just a year or so ago but now have 0 children. One wonders what has happened to the sponsor and to the children and how CI can manage it all financially.
