Signed up for one child, but was assigned another?

Has this happened to anyone here, choosing a particular child to sponsor but then finding that a different child was assigned to you instead? My granddaughter took great pains and was very thoughtful about choosing a child to sponsor, and we "put the child in the cart" and paid, but we were assigned a different child. This was my granddaughter's first try at sponsoring and she doesn't understand. What happened?

It could be that someone chose the child just as you were and the system just didn't have enough time to update.  It could be that the child was no longer in the program, but the system was still being updated to reflect that. Or it could just be a system error of some sort.  If you have questions, call Children International and they can find out what happened and let you know.  The customer service reps are fantastic and will be more than happy to help you out.

They do this.
And be careful, if one of your "children" graduates, they just assign a new one to you.
Also, if one of your "sponsored children" drops out of the program, they also just add a new to you.

If you tell them for each child not to do that, they won't. I always contact the staff to tell them I don't want that. If you don't specifically say that, they will assign another child in those circumstances.

Thank you, Debbies, I was just curious; there is no problem. Simcha had chosen a child that had her same birthday, but we've talked about what happened and it is a great lesson (she's four) about being willing and happy to help anyone who is in need.
