Social media travel tips

You might want to shout from the rooftops what an amazing trip you’re having. But keep these tips in mind before your visit and before sharing pics and info online:

• You’ll be telling everyone you’re not home.
• Turn off the geotagging feature on your phone before taking pictures. (Otherwise, your phone will automatically tag your pics with exactly where you — and your sponsored child — are in those photos — a safety risk we want to avoid.)
• Keep an eye on the background and double-check photos to make sure there aren’t any location indicators. Look for signs that show the name of the child’s neighborhood, school, community center or other identifying information.
• Don’t post your child’s full name or Child ID number
