The Laufer Family Youth Resource and Community Center was inaugurated on February 22, 2018!

The community center provides health and educational resources for younger kids, while the youth resource center provides leadership training, job skills and other programs designed specifically for teens.

About the center

Our community campus in Daraga, Philippines, replaced a rented storefront that was woefully inadequate to care for the 7,000 children it served.

The new center features separate health and dental clinics, a library, computer center, playground and dedicated spaces for meetings and program activities — where children can learn, play and receive crucial benefits.

The Daraga campus was inaugurated on February 22, 2018!

February 22 was a beautiful day for everyone in Daraga! Our sponsored children, community members and staff celebrated the opening of the Laufer Family Youth Resource and Community Center with a release of doves.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting signaled a new era of hope in the community.
The inauguration featured traditional music and dances which are strong and enduring indigenous expressions.
These young attendees were proud to be part of the ceremony, and are looking forward to participating in activities and services in the new buildings!
Kids couldn’t wait for the ceremony to finish so they could try out the new playground!
Even our teens came out to celebrate! Their new dedicated space will be used for leadership training, job skills and fun with friends.

Work continues at a steady pace as the Daraga campus moves toward a February inauguration. Look at the progress on the community center!

The center’s bright waiting area will be a welcoming space to accommodate many families.

In the letter writing hall, kids can participate in group activities and write to their sponsors.

The library will soon be filled with books and learning opportunities for children!

The youth resource center is separate from the community center. Here, teens will learn empowerment and employment skills that help set them on the path to success.

Having a safe space to socialize is important for teens in impoverished communities, which will make the youth recreation room a hub of activity!

The career readiness room will provide a dedicated area for teens to learn skills and behaviors that will help them find good jobs.
