In 2009, Shawn Seipler started Clean the World in a one-car garage in Orlando, Florida. As a sales executive for a technology company, Seipler spent about 150 nights a year in hotel rooms. He began to wonder what happened to all those little bars of soap after he checked out of a lodging establishment. He found out they were simply thrown away.
After learning that hand washing with soap could potentially prevent the deaths of millions of children every year, Seipler launched Clean the World to recycle soap and save lives.
Clean the World is the largest global recycler of hotel amenities with more than 2,000 hotel and resort partners, and 500 event partners, throughout North America.
Since 2009, Clean the World has collected 13 million pounds of discarded soap from hotels, distributed 68 million bars of reprocessed soap to 127 countries, and diverted 23 million pounds of plastic and soap waste from landfills.
