KANSAS CITY, Mo.  (August 13, 2024) – The Republic of the Philippines Department of Health has recognized Children International for the global nonprofit’s significant role in supporting the Lung Center of the Philippines

During a virtual awards ceremony last month, several government agencies lauded Children International Philippines Inc. for helping the Lung Center over the past 14 years. The support has included:

  • Donating surgical medical supplies for patients admitted to the facility’s charity ward and nonoperative medical supplies for those receiving outpatient services.
  • Donating lifesaving protective equipment (PPE), specifically, coveralls, N95 and surgical facemasks, gloves and hygiene products during the COVID-19 crisis.
  • Most recently, collaborating with International Health Partners, a global health organization that supports people in disaster-hit and vulnerable communities to provide them with vital medical supplies.

In its awards letter to Children International, Dr. Melissa T. Sena, Department of Health Director, said Children International Philippines’s support for the Lung Center has shown care for the people and the community. “Children International Philippines’ commitment to our shared values is truly commendable,” she said.

Local entities that organized the awards ceremony included the Health Facility Development Bureau in collaboration with the Association of Medical Social Workers Inc., and the League of DOH Medical Social Workers Inc.

Children International Philippines Inc. works to advance health equity and support communities in crisis, operating in 40% of provinces throughout the Philippines.
