invest in scholarships to SEND MORE YOUTH TO COLLEGE OR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL

Mirriam grew up in a crime-filled neighborhood in Lusaka, Zambia, where an estimated 60% of the population lives below the poverty line.

Through our Community Youth Reporters Program, she grew from a shy 11-year-old to a confident young woman with a talent and passion for broadcast media.

Thanks to the HOPE Scholarship Program, Mirriam received a degree in journalism and public relations. She’s now living her dream as a journalist for CAMNET TV, where she specializes in court, community and current affairs reporting.

I do not have the perfect words to describe how your incredible support has massively contributed to me being an independent young lady, in a country where the majority of young women are forced to get married at a young age due to poverty. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for Children International’s programs like the HOPE scholarship, which gave me access to higher education and the motivation to achieve my goals. I am currently saving up some funds to go back to school.”
— Mirriam, age 25, ZAMBIA

What is a HOPE scholarship?

The HOPE Scholarship Program opens the door for marginalized young people. Your gift will:
  • Help students complete vocational school or earn university degrees by providing financial assistance for tuition, transportation, uniforms and school supplies.
  • Develop life skills, such as problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, to prepare them for the workforce.
  • Offer career-readiness support for interviews and job searches.
  • Connect scholars with career counselors to guide them through school and into a job.

9 countries offer college and vocational school scholarships: Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Honduras, India, Mexico, the Philippines, United States and Zambia
