Powered by sponsorship: Saidy’s story

economic disadvantage is no match for EMPOWERED YOUNG WOMEN

Watch the video to learn how one determined young woman found the confidence to pursue her dreams of becoming a heavy machine operator.

Born and raised in Colombia, Saidy says she has always been fascinated by machines and how to operate them. In fact, a neighbor of hers often had them at his home and fortunately encouraged her curiosity. Saidy knew from an early age that both her gender and her family’s economic disadvantages presented additional challenges to reaching her aspirations. But the encouragement, experiences and opportunities provided through sponsorship create solid foundations for youth like Saidy, helping them gain the skills and confidence they need to successfully take their next steps toward economic independence.

In Saidy’s case, the next step was Children International’s Into Employment® program, where she received the opportunity to study her desired vocation, receiving hands-on training and education.
